Laura Harman BVSc (hons) MRCVS (Head Veterinary Surgeon)
I joined Sanders in January 2014.
I moved to Wales to live with my partner on a beautiful farm near Usk. I graduated from Bristol University in 2009, and during my degree had some fantastic placements including working at an elephant sancturary in Thailand. I initially worked in a busy mixed practice in Kent, and then a small animal hospital in Windsor where I gained a lot of emergency and out of hours experience. I left reluctantly in 2014 but was pleased to join such a dedicated team at Sanders, and love living in Wales.
Outside of work I am surrounded by animals, and have a black labrador called Murray, and mad ginger cat called Angus.
I love being outdoors, and try to go horse riding as often as possible, and draw and paint when I can find the time. I am also a keen blues/soul singer and can often be found at open mic nights locally. I became Head Vet in December 2014, and feel lucky to work with such a lovely team.
Carol Gardner VN (Practice Manager)
I started Sanders in 1972 at the tender age of 16 and trained as a R.A.N.A (Registered Animal Nursing Auxiliary) qualifying in 1976. My claim to fame was being awarded Nurse of the Year at The BSAVA congress in 1976 and my other moment in the spotlight was on my first school trip, aged 7, to Bristol Zoo where I got too "up close and personal" with a Baboon, resulting in a bitten finger (mine, not his).
After 9 years I left to have my first daughter and continued to work part time for some years. Later I developed into a more managerial role and assumed the title of Practice Manager.
In the very little spare time I have, I enjoy spending time with my two granddaughters and following their Choir activities. I enjoy all kinds of music and musicals, and travel.
Caroline Blakeney MA VetMB GPCert(SAM)
I joined Sanders in July 2013.
I have a cat, Baldric. In my spare time I do pet portraits. I spent my ‘gap’ year between school and University working at Disneyland Paris, dressing up to entertain the public. I miss the outfits!
I love to travel, and when at home I like to indulge my secret inner Granny and do lots of baking, gardening and handicrafts.
In the near future, I hope to complete my MRCVS Certificate in Internal Medicine.
Danielle Clark BVetMed MRCVS
I joined Sanders in March 2015. I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012 and since then have been mainly based in a small animal practice in Somerset, until I decided to relocate to Bristol and join the team at Sanders. I am passionate about animals big and small, and have several of my own- including an enormous crossbreed dog! Outside of work I love being outdoors- any activity from horse riding to rock climbing and running is ideal. I also play the piano and am an avid fan of baking cakes. I feel very lucky to have joined such a lovely group at Sanders, and I am hoping that whilst I am working here I can work towards a postgraduate certificate in internal medicine.
